Ed bought the car new from the New Jersey dealer/importer and drove it for about 10 years before taking it to his winter home in Palm City, Florida. It remained stored there for 29 more years deteriorating to the point of a ruin. Bill of Sale for $5,000 was dated January 12, 1993.

In 1993, Richard took charge of the wreck and spent three and a half years restoring the car. He conducted a frame off reconstruction including an engine rebuild by Glenn Effinger as well as a rebuild of the transmission. Both original engine and transmission were retained.
